Artist Benjamin Syiem seeks to re-hash two old ideas symbolised by the words, khlawait and khatarlama.
His bold new animation merges the idea of the khla-wait (honorific for a great warrior) with that of the khatar-lama (a sexually active man).
This merger came out of the fact that a tiger has a wide range spanning many kilometres. The rover/lover similarly is also a great traveller.
We felt that the combination of the warrior and the lover was a natural one in this case. Both the beauty and ferocity of the animal find their counterpart in Man.
